Burns Beach Primary School

On 18th December 2019 the WA State Government issued a Media Statement confirming the following key details:

  • The new Burns Beach Primary School (planning name) will cost $20.7 million.

  • A local architect (Cox Architecture) has been appointed to design the new school.

  • Construction will begin in late 2020, with the school completed for the start of the 2022 school year.

  • The school will accommodate 430 students in permanent classrooms from kindergarten to Year 6.

  • The school will include a Dental Clinic, Music Room, Assembly Area and a future Edu-Care facility. It will also provide a high-quality Out of School Hours Care and vacation program, as well as a school canteen.

In mid-September 2020 WA State Government commenced the Tender process for the Primary School Construction Contract and on 18th November 2020, the contract was awarded to Universal Constructions Pty. Ltd. The following schedule applies:

- Start of Construction 28th January 2021

- Practical Completion of Construction 18th October 2021

Prior to commencing construction work Universal Constructions appointed Encompass Construction Risk Services to carry out pre-condition surveys of properties in close proximity to the Primary School site, due to some risk of property damage from construction machinery vibrations.

BBRA lobbied for the exit from the car park located on Watcombe Avenue to be "left only" (to assist in road safety and the traffic flow). BBRA is also requesting that cars arriving from Burns Beach Road approach the car park entry via Mattingleys Approach and Bramston Vista (to assist with traffic flow and to avoid congestion on Watcombe Avenue).

On the 24th September 2021, was confirmed as Burns Beach Primary School. Enrollments for 2022 are open for children in Kindergarten to Year 6. To apply, contact the school Principal, Trudy Burke, via email at trudy.burke@education.wa.edu.au or telephone on 0411 858 522.

Keiki Early Learning was appointed as the onsite Out of School Hours Care provider, providing programs for children aged 4 -12. To register your interest please email burnsbeach@keikiearlylearning.com.au

Local business owner and Burns Beach resident, Clare Gallagher has been appointed as the manager of the onsite cafe, Sandy Toes Cafe.

Burns Beach Primary School was officially opened on the 3rd March 2022 by Sue Ellery MLC - Member South Metropolitan, Leader Government Legislative Council; Minister for Education and Training.
